Second week of Alamosa Round-UP kicks off

ALAMOSA – The second week of the 2025 Alamosa Round-UP started on Thursday with the mutton bustin’ and the open ladies’ barrel race.

A total of 51 children ages 4-7 participated in the mutton bustin.’

There were nine 4-year-olds who participated with Ellanora O’Dell winning with a score of 89. Ryan Bauer was second with an 88, Hank Day was third with an 84, and Hudson Ward was fourth with an 82.

There were 18 children in the 5-year-old division. Lynnlee Claunch won the division with a 95, followed by Gabby Salas with a 90, Aiden McCormick with an 88, and Lailah Vigil with an 85.

The 6-year-old division had nine participants. Ruby Day had the best score among the 6-year-olds with 89. Zane Canty was second with an 87, June Romero was third with an 86 ½, and Kallahan Smith was fourth with an 86.

There were 15 participants in the 7-year-old division. Bennett McDaniel had the best score with a 97, followed by Cassidy Wright with a 96, Dawson Romero with a 95, and Javielynn Archuleta with a 93.

The Top 4 finishers in the 4- and 5-year-old divisions came back to perform in the Friday night performance. The Top 4 in the 6- and 7-year-old divisions will compete again in tonight’s performance.

In the open local barrel race, a total of 39 competitors were in attendance with the Top 10 returning to compete on Friday and Saturday nights.

All of the Top 10 finishers ran their patterns in less than 17 seconds. The best time of the event was recorded by Maddison Bays, who had a time of 16.23 seconds.

Kollyns McCullough was second with a run of 16.46 seconds. Jaelie Jaminet was third in 16.53, Taycee DeHerrera was fourth in 16.59, and Bailey Danylo was fifth in 16.73.

Raeley Bays and Jaycee Francis tied for sixth place as both had a time of 16.75 seconds. Rounding out the Top 10 were Rosemary Egolf in 16.76, Gracie Wilson in 16.81, and Hadlee Canty in 16.86.
