ALAMOSA – The Sargent High School girls swimming g team finished the 2024-25 season as it competed at the Class 3A State Meet on Feb. 10-11 at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton.
The Lady Farmers finished tied for 21st place in the team standings with 49 points.
Emma Sewell placed in two individual events. She was seventh in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:20.07, and 11th in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.87.
KayLee Gonzales-Moore finished 20th in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:00.21.
In relay events, Sewell, Gonzales-Moore, Alycia Martinez-Chavez, and Kyra Griffin took 15th in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:04.15. Sewell, Gonzales-Moore, Martinez-Chavez and Bella Anderson were 17th in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:51.86.
Anderson, Martinez-Chavez, Rachel Polkowske, and Jade Canales competed in the 400-yard freestyle relay. They had a time of 4:20.29 in the preliminaries, however, they were disqualified in the finals.
Discovery Canyon won the state championship with 386 ½ points. St. Mary’s Academy was second with 367 ½, followed by Kent Denver with 346 ½, Liberty Common with 247 ½, and Holy Family with 244.
