Colorado-Kansas 6-man games are June 6 at ASU

The Colorado-Kansas 6-Man All-State football game will take place June 6 at Adams State University’s Rex Field.

This year’s format will include three teams playing in a round robin. The Colorado North team will play the Kansas team at 11 a.m., followed by the Colorado South playing Kansas at 12:30 p.m. The two Colorado teams will play each other at 2 p.m.

Four Sierra Grande athletes will play for the Colorado South tram. The list includes Carlos Lopez, Jeremiah Lopez, Jadyn Martinez and Rolando Najera.

Martinez led the Panthers as he completed 92 of 167 passes for 1,576 yards and 41 touchdowns and he also ran for 1,412 yards on 104 carries and he scored 24 touchdowns. He had seven receptions for 27 yards and one touchdown. Martinez also had 79 kickoff return yards and 25 punt return yards. Defensively, Martinez had 100 total tackles, one sack, 19 interceptions for 247 yards and four fumble recoveries.

Najera completed 12 of 14 passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns. He ran for 98 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns, and he caught 63 passes for 966 yards and 25 touchdowns. On defense, Najera had 76 total tackles, three sacks, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

Carlos Lopez had 19 catches for 171 yards and four touchdowns. On defense, he had 45 tackles, two sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery.

Jeremiah Lopez had 10 receptions for 180 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, he had 39 tackles and three fumble recoveries.

Colorado 8-man All-State game is this Saturday in Black Hawk

The 8-man All-State Football Game will take place May 30 at Gilpin County Stadium in Black Hawk beginning at 2 p.m.

Four players from Sanford have been invited to compete in the game and all will play for the South team. The list includes Ryan Cordova, J.D. Faucette, Trason Gartrell and William Malouff.

Gartrell led the Mustangs in 2025 as the starting quarterback. He completed 29 of 68 passes for 562 yards and seven touchdowns, and he was also the leading rusher with 2,118 yards on 204 carries and he scored 38 touchdowns. He also had 259 kickoff return yards and 227 punt return yards. Defensively, he had 59 tackles.

Faucette ran for 1,005 yards on 134 carries and he scored nine touchdowns. He also completed five of 10 passes for 57 yards and one touchdown, and he caught seven passes for 89 yards and three touchdowns. On defense he had 51 tackles, four sacks and four fumble recoveries.

Malouff had 27 total tackles and three sacks on defense, and Cordova had 25 tackles, three sacks and one fumble recovery.

Martinez to play in CanAm 6-man Bowl

The 6-man CanAm Bowl will be played on Independence Day in Meeteetse, Wyo., with players from Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, Texas and Wyoming participating.
