ALAMOSA – Centauri High School’s Alyvia Norton scored 28 points to lead the Top Shots to a 64-39 win over the Hot Shots in the 39th Annual Arby’s All-Star Game Friday at Adams State University’s Plachy Hall gym.
Monte Vista’s Hannah Henderhan gave the Hot Shots an early 2-0 lead, but Norton tied the score. Another Monte Vista player, Heysenny Beltran put the Hot Shots back into the lead with a 3-point basket, but Center’s Alyciana Lujan made a jumper for the Top Shots.
Hannah Henderhan made one of two free throws, but Monte Vista’s Reagan Futrell tied the score. Norton then scored five straight points for an 11-6 Top Shots lead.
Hannah Henderhan closed the deficit to 11-8. But Maddison Henderhan scored two straight baskets, and Moffat’s Shauna Pollard made a layup to give the Top Shots a 17-8 lead. Maddison Henderhan split at the line, and Futrell made a three to increase the lead to 21-8.
Lujan made her second trey of the game, but Maddison Henderhan scored in the paint. Antonito’s Nakyla Navares hit a jumper for the Hot Shots, but Norton scored again.
Centennial’s Anai Medina scored four straight points to bring the Hot Shots within 25-178. However, Norton scored seven points, and Futrell two for a 34-17 Top Shots lead at halftime.
Futrell opened the second half with a jumper, but Hannah Henderhan scored for the Hot Shots. Norton then scored six points, and Sierra Grande’s Ashly Rodriguez two for a 44-19 lead.
Beltran scored for the Hot Shots, but Pollard scored four points, and Norton two to extend the Top Shots’ lead to 50-21.
Monte Vista’s Evie Hinds and Medina scored to close the gap to 50-25, however, Futrell scored two points. Del Norte’s Naylie Velazquez scored for the Hot Shots, but Norton scored four more points.
Hinds scored again, but Norton scored four points, and Maddison Henderhan and Futrell both scored two for the Top Shots’ largest lead of the game at 64-29.
The Hot Shots scored the final 10 points of the game with Beltran and Velazquez both scoring four, and Centauri’s Joselyn McCarroll two.
Futrell scored 13 points, and Maddison Henderhan 11 for the Top Shots.
Beltran led the Hot Shots with 10 points.
3-point contest
The 3-point contest for both the boys and girls took place at halftime of the girls game.
McCarroll was the overall and girls winner and Alamosa’s Victor Zepeda was the boys champion.
