Alamosa has seven champions at Durango meet

ALAMOSA – The Annual Ron Keller Invitational in Durango scheduled for last Saturday, was postponed to Monday because of the weather.

Alamosa

The Alamosa High School track and field team had seven individual champions in the meet. Freshman Ethan Merrick won two for the boys team as he took the 1,600-meter run in 4:34.80, and the 3,200 in 9:57.34.

Cody Williams had the remaining boys championship as he won the 800 in 2:00.98.

Also placing for the Mean Moose were Brayden Moeller who was second in the 100-meter dash in 11.41 and second in the 200 in 23.08. Jeremiah DeLaCerda was third in the 1,600 in 4:43.38 and fifth in the 400 in 54.76, Adlai Gardner was sixth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 44.01, Timone Dolan was seventh in the 400 in 55.40, and Hoyt Johnson tied for eighth in the pole vault at 8-8.

The Mean Moose were also fourth in the 4x100-meter relay in 45.08 seconds.

The Alamosa girls had four individual championships. Timay Garcia won the pole vault at 8-7, Brandi Garrison won the discus at 109-3 and she was also eighth in the shot put at 25-5 ¼. Kaylee Gonzales-Moore won the 200 in 26.80 and she was second in the 100 in 13.31, Daelyn Jackson won the high jump at 4-9 and she also placed sixth in the 300 hurdles in 56.68.

Also placing for the Lady Mean Moose were Brooklyn Boehm who was second in the shot put at 28-6 and sixth in the discus at 90-0, Amelia Martinez was second in the pole vault at 7-8, Kailynn King was fourth in the 100 in 13.60 and fifth in the 200 in 27.95, Alicia Gonzalez was fifth in the long jump at 14-6 and fifth in the triple jump at 28-11 ¼, ZaleBriel Smart was sixth in the 100 in 13.84, Olivia Formisano was seventh in the 3,200 in 13:08.05, Braelyn Martinez was seventh in the 100-meter high hurdles in 19.77 and seventh in the pole vault at 6-2, Lily Heersink was seventh in the 100 in 14.11 and eighth in the 200 in 28.25, and A’Jordanae Lewis was eighth in the long jump at 14-2 ¾.

Alamosa also won the girls 4x100 in 52.43.

Del Norte

Leading the Del Norte boys team were Caleb Cowett who was second in the 800 in 2:03.74, Cruz Matta who was third in the 800 in 2:08.62, Mads Kreutzer who was fourth in the 3,200 in 11:45.36, Corbin Horrocks who tied for third in the pole vault at 10-8, Damon Ledford-Vigil who was seventh in the 800 on 2:14.01, and Wyatt VanZalinge who tied for eighth in the pole vault at 8-8.

The Tigers were also second in the 4x400 in 3:42.72.

For the Lady Tigers, Frannie Edelen was second in the 1,600 in 5:57.90 and sixth in the 800 in 2:39.99, Baylie Laymon was fourth in the 100 hurdles in 18.90 and fourth in the pole vault at 6-8, Madeline Mitchell tied for fourth in the pole vault at 6-8, and Brooke Davis-Martinez tied for fifth in the high jump at 4-5.

Del Norte was also third in the 4x400 in 4:43.19.

Sangre de Cristo

The Thunderbirds had only one placer in Hayden Cleve who was sixth in the pole vault at 9-8.

What’s next

Alamosa and Centauri will be at the Intermountain League Meet at Bayfield on Saturday, as will Creede Sanford, and Sierra Grande. Antonito, Center, Moffat Monte Vista and Sierra Grande will compete at Rye on Friday. Del Norte will be at the Coronado Invitational on Friday. Moffat and Sangre de Cristo will be at South Park on Saturday.
