ALAMOSA – After a year away from occurring, the High Altitude Challenge returned to action Friday at the Alamosa high School Stadium.
Alamosa
Alamosa finished fourth in the boys meet with 60 points. It was led by Adlai Gardner who finished second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 42.40 seconds and fifth in the 100-meter dash in 11.71, and Ethan Merrick who was second in the 1,600-meter run in 4:40.73.
Also placing for the Mean Moose were Timone Dolan who was third in the 200 in 23.62, Cael Canaan who was fourth in the 800 in 2:12.78, Jeremiah DeLaCerda who was fifth in the 1,600 in 5:01.76, and Jayce Johnson who was eighth in 1,600 in 5:10.05.
The Alamosa boys also place in three relays including a win in the 4x800 in 8:33.81. They were also second in the 4x200 in 1:33.84, and third in the 4x100 in 44.61.
Alamosa won the girls meet with 126 points and was led by Timay Garcia who won the pole vaulyt at 9-3. Also placing for the Mena Moose girls were Brandi Garrison who won the discus at 107-9 and was fourth in the shot put at 30-0, Brooklyn Boehm who was second in the discus at 103-10 and second in the shot put at 31-5, Sylvia Daugherty who was second in the 400 in 59.89 and fourth in the 200 in 27.55, Hannah DeLaCerda who was second in the 800 in 2:38.04, Alicia Gonzalez who was second in the long jump at 15-8 ¾ and fourth in the triple jump at 32-1 ½, ZaleBriel Smart who was third in the 100 in 13.40, Leela Gutierrez who tied for fourth in the pole vault at 7-9, Daelyn Jackson who tied for fourth in the high jump at 4-11 and fifth in the 300 hurdles in 51.52, Braelyn Martinez who tied for fourth in the pole vault at 7-9, Gizelle Meraz who was fourth in the discus at 96-10 and fifth in the shot put at 28-10, Olivia Formisano who was fifth in the 3,200 in 12:44.73, Bella Hoover who was fifth in the 100 in 13.53, sixth in the 400 in 1:05.00 and eighth in the 200 in 28.28, Braelyn Cisneros who was sixth in the 1,600 in 6:06.24, and Amelia Martinez who was seventh in the pole vault at 7-3.
The Mean Moose girls were also sixth in the 4x400 in 5:21.08.
Centauri
The Centauri boys took sixth place with 53 points. Leading the Falcons were Dallyn King who won the 400 in 49.47, and Blake Johnson who won the shot put at 43-5.
Also scoring for Centauri were Ben Norton who was third in the 110 hurdles in 16.77 and fourth in the 300 hurdles in 43.01, Diego Cortez who was fourth in the discus at 127-8 and seventh in the shot put at 38-1 ½, Cole Jackson who was fifth in the 110 hurdles in 17.54 and seventh in the 300 hurdles in 44.40, and Caden Ruggles who was fifth in the 400 in 54.86.
The Centauri girls placed eighth with 50 points and were led by Alyvia Norton who was second in the high jump at 5-1. Also placing were Analyn Dwyer who was third in the long jump at 15-3 ¾ and tied for fourth in the high jump at 4-11, Mckenzie Torres who was third in the 800 in 2:39.65, Sydney Haslett who tied for fourth in the high jump at 4-11, and Bailey Graver who was eighth in the 400 in 1:05.55.
Centauri won the girls 4x800 relay in 10:22.87.
Center
The Center boys took 13th with six points. The Vikings’ scorers included Yanixan Padilla who tied for eighth in the long jump at 18-9 ½, and Anjel Palma who was eighth in the triple jump at 38-0.
Center was also fifth in the boys 4x800 in 10:52.67.
The Center girls took 10th place with 25 points. Their placers included Oceana Garcia who was sixth in the 100 in 13.56, Emiliana Valdez who was sixth in the discus at 88-1 and eighth in the shot put at 28-0 ½, and Becklynn Bogner who was seventh in the300 hurdles in 52.70.
The Center girls also placed in all four relays. The Vikings were third in the 4x400 in 4:38.45, fifth in the 4x100 in 55.06, fifth in the 4x800 in 12:41.47, and seventh in the 4x200 in 1:54.10.
Del Norte
Del Norte was seventh in the. boys meet with 51 points and was led by Damon Ledford-Vigil who won the pole vault at 13-7 and was fifth in the high jump at 5-11. Also placing for the Tigers were Mads Kreutzer who was fourth in the 1,600 in 4:46.43, Corbin Horrocks who was fifth in the 800 in 2:15.12, Calvin Quintana who was fifth in the shot pit at 40-1 ½, and Jaxtin Lester who was seventh in the 400 in 55.52.
The Tigers were also second in the 4x400 in 3:38.67, second in the 4x800 in 8:39.36, and third in the 4x200 in 1:35.87.
The Del Norte girls placed ninth with 30 points and were led by Scarlett Maxwell who was second in the 1,600 in 5:48.55, Madeline Mitchell who was third in the pole vault at 8-3, and Makenzie Consaul and Indie Howe who both tied for eighth in the pole vault at 6-3.
The Tiger girls were third in the 4x800 in 10:46.73, fourth in the 4x400 in 4:40.93, and sixth in the 4x200 in 1:53.58.
Moffat
Moffat was were 15th in the boys meet with four points. The Cowboys scorers were Javad Taylor who was sixth in the 200 in 24.00, and Cashel Johnson who was eighth in the discus at 116-9.
The Moffat girls tied for 16th with two points. Their lone scorer was Kandra Pollard who was seventh in the 100 in 13.57.
Monte Vista
Monte Vista placed 11th in the boys meet with 11 points. Its individual scorers were Eziah Archuleta who was seventh in the long jump at 19-0 ¼, and Jonathan Samora who was eighth in the 400 in 55.69.
The Pirates were fifth in the 4x100 in 46.05, and fifth in the 4x200 in 1:36.40.
The Monte Vista girls took 11th in the girls meet with 24 points. Leading the way was Shae Romero who won the 400 in 58.37 and was second in the 200 in 26.54. Olyvia Wofford was seventh in the 100 hurdles in 18.12.
The Pirates also took fifth in the girls 4x200 in 1:51.38.
Sanford
The Sanford boys finished tied for 13th with six points. Their individual placers were Blake Miller who was eighth in the 300 hurdles in 44.72, and Kaulen Miller who tied for eighth in the high jump at 5-7.
The Mustangs were seventh in the 4x100 in 47.86, and seventh in the 4x400 in 4:09.27.
The Mustangs girls tied for 16th with two points. Their only scoring was an eighth-place finish in the 4x100 in 57.09. and eighth in the 4x200 in 1:58.82.
Sangre de Cristo
The Sangre boys tied for 16th with three points. The Thunderbirds only scorer was Joe Brown who was sixth in the shot put at 39-1.
The Sangre girls tied for 14th with four points. Scoring for the Thunderbirds was Taylor Freel who was fifth in the discus at 92-5.
Sierra Grande
The Sierra Grande boys placed 10th with 12 points. Placing for the Panthers was Rolando Najera who was fifth in the long jump at 20-0 and sixth in the triple jump at 38-2 ¼.
Sierra Grande was fourth in the boys 4x100 in 45.90.
The Sierra Grande girls tied for 14th with four points. Scoring for the Panthers was Eneria Quintana who was fifth in then triple jump at 31-10.
