ALAMOSA – The seventh-ranked Alamosa High School girls soccer team had two players record hat tricks as it defeated Del Norte, 10-0, Tuesday at the AHS stadium.
“We played great tonight, and it was nice on senior night that we could finish strong,” said Alamosa coach Kelly Wubben.
Lexany Heredia started the scoring with a goal in the third minute. Leah Higareda then scored goals in the 12th and 19th minitues to increase the lead to 3-0.
Jayden Wubben scored in the 23rd minute, and Higareda completed the hat trick in the 30th minute to give the Lady Mean Moose a 5-0 advantage at halftime.
It didn’t take long to score the first goal of the second half as Jayden Wubben scored just 31 seconds into the half. Noemi Lemus scored in the 46th minute for a 7-0 lead.
Araceli Molina completed the scoring with a natural hat trick. She scored in the 54th, 66th and 68th minutes to end the game on the mercy rule.
Heredia and Jayden Wubben both had two assists to lead Alamosa, and Lemus and Molina both had one.
Alamosa put 32 shots on goal, while Del Norte had only one. Emily Tibbits stopped the only shot she faced, while Lady Tiger goalkeeper Sophia Banderas had 22 saves.
The Lady Mean Moose also had 10 corner kicks, while the Lady Tigers had none.
Alamosa 3, Pagosa Springs 1
Alamosa wrapped up a successful defense of the Intermountain League title on Thursday with a 3-1 win at Pagosa Springs.
Jayden Wubben scored two goals for the Lady Mean Moose and Higareda had one.
Tibbits had five saves.
Bayfield 7, Del Norte
Del Norte was defeated by Bayfield, 7-1, Thursday at Bayfield.
Tessa Vita scored the Lady Tigers’ only goal. Statistics for Banderas were unavailable.
What’s next
Alamosa (9-0-2, 4-0-1) will wrap up Intermountain League play by hosting Bayfield today at 11 a.m.
Del Norte (2-5) hosted Ignacio on Friday, and it will host Montezuma-Cortez on Monday starting at 4 p.m.
