ALAMOSA — A two-day multi-agency narcotics investigation concluded on Friday with the  Alamosa Police Department (APD) seizing thousands of lethal fentanyl pills, various illicit drugs, firearms, and multiple arrests across the San Luis Valley.

The information was made public on Saturday morning with a press release from the city.

At 1:15 a.m. on Friday, May 8, APD detectives in coordination with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), conducted a traffic stop on Highway 160 at Highway 159. Following an alert by an APD K9, officers discovered over 6,000 fentanyl pills and U.S. currency.

The occupants, identified as Dale Tardona (42) and Ileaha Gallegos (45), both of Manassa, were taken into custody on Drug Felony 1 charges.

The investigation continued throughout the day with the execution of two additional search warrants, both in Manassa.

The first location was in the 200 Block of Morgan Street, where officers seized methamphetamine, fentanyl, and several firearms. An 18-year-old female at the scene was provided immediate recovery resources by the Alamosa LEAD substance abuse specialist.

The second location was in the 300 Block N. 4th Street where detectives located a juvenile female alone in the residence. She was medically evaluated and placed in the care of Child Protective Services. A search of the home yielded a large amount of U.S. currency, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and items used to conceal and transport illicit narcotics.

APD extends its gratitude to the DEA, Conejos County Sheriff Garth Crowther, the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office, CBI, and the 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office for their vital assistance in this ongoing investigation
