Mineral County Ambulance welcomes National Registered Paramedic

Posted

MINERAL COUNTY – The Mineral County Ambulance Board recently announced that EMT Charles Miller has completed training and is now one of three certified paramedics on the team.

“We have a new paramedic in our service. Charles Miller, one of our EMT’s, finished his paramedic training and is now a National Registered Paramedic and is also licensed in the state of Colorado,” stated Mineral County Ambulance Board Member Elizabeth Steele.

Due to the rural setting of Mineral County, having trained and enough first responders are critical when additional help and services are at least 20 miles away. During the summer months, there can be up to 10,000 people in the area, making the need for top-of-the-line EMTs, paramedics, fire fighters, search and rescue and law enforcement crucial.

Miller has been an EMT for just shy of 2.5 years and is joining Betsy Strawn and Mark Hebert as a certified paramedic on the Mineral County Ambulance team.

“We get more and more calls every year especially during our busier seasons and having people like Miller on our team is wonderful,” said Steele.

Steele said the board is seeking new volunteers for the ambulance service in Mineral County.

“We have three drivers which allows us to bring several EMTs and paramedics to any given call. Those who serve with us will be paid by call and we help with training expenses as well as certification classes,” Steele said.

Steele continued to explain that if a volunteer commits to a two-year service, the board does have funding available to help with the cost of certification and training. There will be a class beginning on Jan. 6, 2025, for anyone interested in signing up to help save lives.

If you or someone you know is interested in joining the Mineral County team or is interested in taking a class to become an EMT, they can contact Amy Wetherill at 719-480-9727.
