WOLF CREEK – “These Boots Are Made for Walking,” a song by Nancy Sinatra filled the air at the main clubhouse at Wolf Creek Ski Area as more than 50 people stomped with their ski boots to the beat of JJ and the Hooligans out of Sante Fe during the dance contest to celebrate the resort’s 85th season.

Resort owner Roseann H. Pitcher spoke about the 85th season stating that even though snow totals were extremely low for the year, the numbers were about the same. “It’s been a major bummer not to get much snow this year even though the start of the season was pretty epic. It didn’t stop people from coming though, and that has been great.”

Pitcher also stated that everyone who came has been a huge part in celebrating the resort’s 85 year and made it something special. “We really appreciated the support. Here’s to another 85!”

Pitcher was among the many out on the dance floor as skiers could be seen outside on the slopes making the best of what was left of the season. The resort has one last weekend in store for their dedicated skiers and snowboarders that will include a costume contest with prices for the best dressed ski/snowboarders out there.

The resort ends the 2024-2025 season on April 6 with an annual accumulation of about 200 inches which is less than half of their annual average. As one of the only resorts in Colorado who can typically boast the most snow in the state, 200 inches fell extremely shy of average totals.

Even though the resort didn’t see as much powder as they anticipated, the place was hopping with late spring breakers filling the chair lines and the parking lots.

Wolf Creek Ski Area appreciated everyone who came out and joined them in celebrating this year and look forward to welcoming them back in the fall.
