STAFF REPORT
ALAMOSA — Salsa is known to many as “the dance of love”, which makes Friday’s Latin Dance Night at Lucha’s Cantina and Speakeasy the perfect way to start Valentine’s Day weekend.
Known for its high energy, infectious rhythms, partner connection and dynamic moves, Salsa is just one of the dances people will be dancing. As a DJ fills the air with the best of Latin music, there will also be Bachata, Merengue, Cumbia, Reggaeton “y màs”!
“Latin Dance Night" celebrates the students who just finished taking classes from the master Salsa instructors Sarah Gears, Belinda Vargas, and Oneyda Maestas, so they can have a real live dance experience.
"But the venue is open to everyone and you don't need a partner," says Maestas, adding the dance is truly "for everyone", whether they just finished a recent series of classes or are former students who have had Salsa dance lessons over the years or want to just get out on the floor and try a few moves.
“And Lucha’s is the place to go,” she says, praising the unique menu of drinks – both alcohol and non-alcohol – and genuinely excellent food.
Latin Dance Night (free entrance), 9:00 pm to 12:00 am Friday, February 13th at Lucha’s Cantina and Speakeasy. 531 Edison Avenue in Alamosa.
