Doris Almeda Golden, 89, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side in the Rock Creek Rehabilitation Healthcare Center in Monte Vista, Colo. Born Feb. 2, 1935, at home in Milburn, Neb., to Clarence Herman and Lydia Almeda (Petet) Dye.
Doris was a woman of unwavering faith and boundless love, the matriarch of her family. She was the proud mother of Troy Golden, with his wife Judi, and Marty Golden, with his wife Cindy, both families residing in Monte Vista, Colorado. Her legacy further blossomed with her grandchildren Cody (Christina) Golden, Amanda (Kyle) Kaus, Dylon (Jessica Moorman) Golden and Daniel Golden. The joy of her days was multiplied with the laughter of her great-grandchildren, Braden, Camden and Carter Kaus and Chase and Isabella Golden.
Doris was the cherished sister to Mary Halsted of Columbus, Neb., Junior (Patricia) Dye of Greeley, Colo., Lyle (Sandy) Dye of Monte Vista, Colo., and Ella (Art) Porter of Smith Center, Kan.
She was ushered into the kingdom of heaven by her beloved husband, Rod Golden, her parents, Clarence and Lydia Dye, and her siblings Orville, Louis, Margaret, and Ruth, who had gone on before her.
In her professional life, Doris was a pillar of strength and diligence, self-employed in secretarial work and bookkeeping for two decades. She embraced retirement with the same zest with which she approached her career, filling her days with the simple pleasures that knit the fabric of a life well-lived.
A woman of many hobbies, she found tranquility in assembling jigsaw puzzles, delving into a good book, and watching her preferred television shows, all often at the same time. Her hands were rarely still, as she took pleasure in crafting beautiful pieces through knitting, crochet, and cross-stitch. Doris shared memorable adventures with her husband Rod, especially their treasured trips to Hawaii, and she cherished the companionship and camaraderie with their close friends, Frank and Eileen Zlatkovsky.
Doris's spirit danced around campfires at black powder rendezvous, and she found solace in the embrace of nature while camping. She was a wonderful cook and delighted in cooking for her grandchildren and family.
As we honor Doris Almeda Golden, her unwavering love and the treasured memories she created with each person she touched will be held close to our hearts forever. Her life was a testament to the power of family, faith, and love – a true celebration of a journey well lived.
There will be a funeral service on Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Rogers Family Mortuary, 404 Morris St., Monte Vista, followed by committal in the Monte Vista Cemetery.
