FORT GARLAND — Fort Garland Museum & Culture Center is hosting a FREE, family-friendly event in honor of its 75th anniversary in operation as a museum with a festive day of art, culture, and community at the Artisan’s Harvest Market. All members of the community are welcome to attend and explore handcrafted goods, art, and creations from local artisans, while sampling seasonal bites and treats from regional food vendors.

The celebration will feature lively performances by the Sierra Grande School Pep Band, Mariachi Corazon Del Valle, and Ballet Folklorico del Valle. Visitors can also enjoy an engaging lecture by Crystal Rizzo, cultural preservation director of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, followed by a guided tour of the recently opened Smithsonian exhibition, Americans.

Media are encouraged to attend to showcase this community event highlighting the creativity, traditions, and stories that have shaped the Fort Garland community for 75 years.

The Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center is an award-winning institution recognized with the National Medal for Museums and Library service from the Institute of Museums and Library Services, the nation's highest honor for museums, and named “Best of the San Luis Valley”.
