FORT GARLAND — April is National Poetry Month, celebrate by joining Fort Garland for the 2nd annual Poetry and Posole event with renowned poet Bobby LeFebre.
On Saturday, April 5, starting at 12 p.m., they will have a posole luncheon followed by a poetry reading and performance at 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but please RSVP in advance at https://survey.alchemer.com/.../rsvp-for-poetry-posole.
LeFebre is an award-winning writer, performer and cultural worker fusing a non-traditional multi-hyphenated professional identity to imagine new realities, empower communities, advance arts and culture, and serve as an agent of provocation, transformation, equity, and social change.
In 2019, LeFebre was named Colorado Theater Person of the Year, and named as Colorado’s 8th Poet Laureate, making him the youngest and first person of color to be appointed to the position in its 100-year history. LeFebre was named a National Catalyst for Change Fellow in 2020 and an Academy of American Poets Poet Laureate Fellow in 2021.
LeFebre’s family has deep Colorado roots and has called the San Luis Valley and Northern New Mexico home since time immemorial.
