VICTIM SERVICES ASSISTANT (VSA) Part-Time, Saguache, Colorado, United States, JOB DESCRIPTION Anticipated Hiring Range:  $ 16.00 - $ 18.00 hourly, Saguache County Sheriff’s, Office Victim Response Unit: ecox@saguachecounty-co.gov, Job Summary- .25 VOCA Grant position – 40 Hrs. a month. Provides on-scene, telephone and written (text, email)  crisis intervention, advocacy, and assistance to victims, witnesses and survivors of violent and non-violent crimes in the County of Saguache. Informing Victims about their Constitutional and statutory mandated Victim Rights; notifying Victims about restitution eligibility, Victim Compensation Application assistance; assist with Victim Impact Statement questions and submittal; assisting Victims with securing Orders of Protection, both criminal and civil; assessing the needs of Victims and acting as a resource for Community service referrals; and engaging in follow-up contact, as needed with Victims of Crime. The VSA’s duties also involve data entry and attention to detail including; thorough Case documentation, using both paper-based and computer automated Case management systems; maintaining statistical records on Victims served and services provided; and working with Law Enforcement, Staff, Prosecuting Attorneys and other Victim Response Units or their designates to improve services to Victims. The VSA helps the Victim Coordinator provide training on Victim Rights and Crime Victim related issues, facilitates Victim related Community outreach activities, and helps train, recruit and assist Volunteer Victim Advocates in the County. The VSA may be asked to perform other duties related to the Saguache County Victim Response Unit as assigned. Distinguishing Features: This classification has been designated as a non-classified, non-merit system, at-will position. This classification is supervised by the Victim Advocate Coordinator and directed by the Saguache County Sheriff. QUALIFICATIONS, Minimum Qualifications Required. United States Citizen or legal resident; 18 years of age; High School Diploma or equivalent; Valid Colorado Driver’s License. Preferred/Desirable Qualification; PC experience with current computer programs and data processing software, telephone and email confidence. Strong written and verbal communication skills; communicating with diverse populations,  Law Enforcement, Prosecutors and service providers.
