Irene S. Monter-Chadwick

Irene S. Monter-Chadwick passed away on Oct. 10, 2024, in Arvada, Colo. Irene was born to William Ziebell and Sophia Esslinger Ziebell on July 23, 1922, in Arapahoe, Neb. 

She married Herbert Monter on March 23, 1943, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Nebraska. They moved to Monte Vista, Colo., in 1954. There they raised their family, owned and operated L & M Oliver Sales and were members of St. Peters Lutheran Church. 

In 1972, they moved to Canon City and then to the Denver area. Irene was a homemaker and professional seamstress and enjoyed baseball and gardening. She also did volunteer work and was involved in many senior citizen activities. 

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert Monter, husband Eugene Chadwick, three brothers, Emil, Lorenz and Oscar, two sisters Ida and Marie, grandson Chris Moore, sons-in-law Nelson Evans, Ernie Austin, and daughter-in-law Ramona Monter. 

She is survived by her daughters Sharon Evans of St. Petersburg, Fla., Norma Moore of Lakewood, Colo., Joyce Austin of Alamosa, Colo., and son Ron Monter of Pinion Hills, Calif., 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  

A memorial service and interment will be held in the spring.
