CREEDE – The first two shows of Creede Repertory Theatre’s (CRT) 59th season open on Saturday, May 25. CRT’s Season of Discovery includes a mystery, a musical comedy, a classic, a world premiere with local ties, and a concert series with Creede Musical Arts Collective.

First up in the Ruth Humphreys Brown Theatre is Ken Ludwig’s “Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery.” This fast-paced mystery-comedy follows Sherlock Holmes, Dr. John Watson, and three more actors playing over 40 characters, as they work to solve the mystery of "The Hound of the Baskervilles" before a family curse dooms its newest heir.

“Baskerville” features CRT newcomers Alan Ball, Katie Rodriguez, and Erik Sandvold along with returning alumni Cameron Davis and Savanna Padilla.

Next up, opening June 8, is Mel Brooks’ musical adaptation of his classic film “Young Frankenstein,” with a book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan, music and lyrics by Brooks, and based on the story and screenplay by Gene Wilder and Brooks.

The grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") inherits his family's estate in Transylvania. With the help of his sidekick, Igor (pronounced "Eye-gore"), and sultry lab assistant, Inga, Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors.

This production stars comedic favorites Anne Faith Butler as Frau Blücher, Graham Ward as Frederick Frankenstein, Heidi Carann Snider as Elizabeth Benning, and Matthew Tyler Horn as The Creature. CRT welcomes Julian Ibarra as Igor, Katie Drinkard as Inga, and Alan Ball as Inspector Kemp. Young Frankenstein also features Cameron Davis, Savanna Padilla, Katie Rodriguez, Erik Sandvold, Sierra Stallman, and Bethany Eilean Tally; with Christy Brandt as The Hermit.

The season also includes “The Importance of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde opening June 28; the world premiere of “Prima’s Guide to Funerals” by Leonard Madrid on July 12; and On the Stage of Sondheim, a summer concert series featuring the works of Stephen Sondheim, playing July 24 and Aug. 7, 14, 21, and 28.

2024 also spotlights longtime acting company member Christy Brandt’s 50th season with CRT. Starring in more than 100 roles since 1973, join us as CRT honors her prolific career on Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Creede Hotel and Restaurant.
