ALAMOSA – Tim Yount released his fourth On the Mat high school wrestling rankings on Thursday with several competitors from the San Luis Valley being recognized.
Class 3A
Only one SLV team in in the Class 3A rankings as Alamosa remained in the second position. Mullen is still the top-ranked team. Valley is third, followed by Eaton, Fort Lupton, Fort Morgan, Jefferson, Resurrection Christian, University and Gunnison.
Alamosa
The Mean Moose have eight ranked wrestlers with half of them being ranked second in their weight divisions.
The list includes Jeremiah DeLaCerda (106), Uriah Martinez (132), Anthony Meder (120) and Dyson Woodward (150).
The rest of the ranked Alamosa grapplers include Ryan Cordova who is eighth at 165, Pablito Rodriguez who is 10th at 126, Jace Morgan who is 11th at 175, and Daniel Martinez who is 12th at 138.
Centauri
The Falcons have five competitors in the rankings and are led by Parker Buhr who is the top-ranked wrestler at 165 pounds.
The remaining Centauri wrestlers include Nik Skadberg who is sixth at 144, Spencer Smith who is sixth at 175, Troy Munson who is eighth at 157, and Erik Garcia who is 16th at 106.
Class 2A
There are no local teams in the Class 2A rankings. Wray continues to be the top-ranked team, followed by Cedaredge, Rocky Ford, North Fork, Highland, Sedgwick County/Fleming, Dayspring Christian, Fowler, Meeker and West Grand.
Antonito
The Trojans currently have no wrestlers in the rankings.
Center
The Vikings have five ranked wrestlers including Aaron Valadez who is third at 165, Andre Meraz who is fifth at 150, Martin Palma who is fifth at 190, Michael Archuleta who is sixth at 113, and Nicolas Palma who is 10th at 120.
Del Norte
Two Tigers are in the rankings including Paul Neal who is fourth at 165, and Wyatt McIlhaney who is 13th at 215.
Monte Vista
Four Pirates are currently ranked and are led by Kevin Cisneros who tops the list at 150 pounds.
The rest of the Monte Vista ranked competitors include Jeremiah Baumgardner who is third at 175, Jacob Pacheco who is seventh at 157, and Mathieu Dean who is ninth at 106.
Sargent
Jaycian Sierra is the only Farmer in the rankings as he is 11th at 138.
Sierra Grande/Centennial
Two Panthers are mentioned including Diego Rodriguez who is ninth at 113, and Bryant Tijerina who is 10th at 132.
Girls Class 4A
Alamosa is the only ranked local team in the Class 4A girls rankings as the Lady Mean Moose are ranked fifth.
Pueblo Central is the top-ranked team, followed by Lamar, Strasburg, Severance, Alamosa, Yuma, Skyview, Canon City, Sedgwick County/Fleming, Moffat County, North Fork, Gunnison, Wiggins, Manitou Springs, La Junta, West Grand, Fort Lupton, Pagosa Springs, Montezuma-Cortez, and Woodland Park.
Alamosa
The Lady Mean Moose have four ranked competitors.
Samantha Maestas (120) and Gizelle Meraz (115) are both at the top of their weight divisions, while Leah Pintor is 10th at 100, and Kennedy Hillis is 11th at 110.
Antonito
The Lady Trojans have three ranked wrestlers. Alysaa Abeyta is sixth at 105, Anarya Romero is eighth at 120, and Eliza Garcia is 16th at 115.
Del Norte
The Lady Tigers currently have no wrestlers in the rankings.
Monte Vista
Torrina Herrera is the only Lady Pirate who is ranked as she is 11th at 120.
