CREEDE - The largest and most anticipated holiday event during the summer is just weeks away from the small mountain town of Creede, and plans are well underway for this year’s Independence Day celebration. Thousands of people descend on Creede during this holiday weekend, and the schedule of events is sure to be a great time for all who attend.
MONTE VISTA - Alabama duo Muscadine Bloodline will be the headliner of the Ski-Hi Stampede’s opening concert on July 10 in Monte Vista. Special guest Aaron Watson will be opening for the rising country duo. The Stampede, Colorado’s oldest rodeo, runs from July 10-13 at the Ski-Hi Complex.
CREEDE - Family and friends gathered in Creede on May 29 to celebrate the Class of 2025 in the Creede school gymnasium. Those in attendance stood as five seniors walked down the aisle to take their seats and commemorate their hard work and dedication.

CREEDE – Along with many theatres and arts groups nationwide, Creede Repertory Theatre was disappointed to learn recently that a $20,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support the Headwaters New Play Program in 2025 was withdrawn.
WOLF CREEK – “These Boots Are Made for Walking,” a song by Nancy Sinatra filled the air at the main clubhouse at Wolf Creek Ski Area as more than 50 people stomped with their ski boots to the beat of JJ and the Hooligans out of Sante Fe during the dance contest to celebrate the resort’s 85th season.

Over New Year’s weekend, San Luis Valley Valley 4-H members traveled to Arizona to participate in the prestigious Arizona National Livestock Judging Contest. The event challenged participants to evaluate eight classes of livestock: Market Steers, Breeding Heifers, Market Lambs, Breeding Ewes, Market Goats, Wether Dam Does, Breeding Gilts, and Market Hogs.
CREEDE – 2024 was a year of success in Creede and Mineral County as it focused on celebrating the past while looking to the future. Throughout the year, Creede accomplished many improvements and saw local organizations celebrate milestones.
CREEDE – With the new year approaching, Creede is gearing up for the annual Golden Pick Pond Hockey Tournament on Jan. 18 and 19. This annual event brings out the best of Creede in the winter as local and visiting teams gather for some good old-fashioned pond hockey underneath the formidable and beautiful caldera cliffs just north of town.
MINERAL COUNTY – During a brief update to Mineral County Commissioners on Dec. 11, Mineral County Emergency Manager Clint Leggett stated that he recently purchased avalanche preparedness packs for the Mineral County Search and Rescue team. Leggett stated that he got the packs through avalanche safety expert Matt Entz, owner of Mountain Skillz in South Fork.

CREEDE – It’s time to mark the calendar and make plans for the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving and head on up to Creede for the annual Chocolate Festival and Holiday Market. Residents, business owners and the City of Creede have all partnered to bring the holiday spirit to the forefront and to celebrate the season with giving. Starting on Friday, Nov. 29, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. businesses along the historic Main Street in downtown Creede will be offering delectable treats to all who venture that way with the annual Creede Chocolate Festival.
CREEDE – Creede Repertory Theatre (CRT) will open its 60th anniversary season in May. The season will be its first under new Artistic Director Emily Van Fleet and will include two musicals, a theatrical adventure comedy, a riveting drama, and more. CRT will open all its main shows before the end of June.
MINERAL COUNTY – The Mineral County Ambulance Board recently announced that EMT Charles Miller has completed training and is now one of three certified paramedics on the team.
