SOUTH FORK— Does your child or teen love being outside? Do you want them to learn to love being outside? The Rio Grande Watershed Conservation & Education Initiative’s summer programs might be the perfect place for them! Registration is now open for the Youth Conservation Camp in South Fork for children ages 8-13 on June 11-13.
Kids choose a natural resource small group like wildlife, rangeland science, forestry, or even hunters’ safety as well as participating in other fun summer camp activities. This camp is overnight for two nights at the Beaver Creek Camp Retreat in the Rio Grande National Forest. Cost is $140 and registration will end June 5.
For older teens, we are partnering with Adams State University’s Adventure Program to bring the San Luis Valley the first ever Teen Outdoor Stewardship Camp for youth entering ninth through 12th grades. The group will meet each day for recreational adventures like hiking and kayaking, with one overnight camp out, and all of the adventures will take place in different locations around the San Luis Valley on June 24-28 for a cost of $150.
