CREEDE — Creede resident and Elks Lodge #506 member, Ron Carpenter, has recently been named the first Colorado Elk’s Association State President from Creede.  Carpenter became a member of the Creede Elks Lodge #506, which was established in 1899, thirty-eight years ago when he was signed up by his father who was a life member.  His brother and two sons are also Elks members.
Throughout Carpenter’s thirty-eight years as an Elks member, Carpenter has held most offices in the Creede lodge, as well as, Trustee and District Deputy, a Grand Lodge appointment, in the state.    
“As I learned more about the Elks and how they raised money during WWI to start the first field hospitals for our troops in Europe, I became more involved to help children and veterans,” said Carpenter.
As state president, Carpenter hopes to help the 55 lodges with over 22,000 members work together for their communities. In addition, he hopes that people will come to know where Creede is and that there is an Elks Lodge with over 180 members.
Carpenter was installed as the state president on September 7, 2019 which also was his 34th wedding anniversary with his wife Lucinda.
